RebeccaAfter 12 years of teaching high school English, Rebecca took time off to stay home, raise her daughter, and teach part-time at the university level. This flexibility has allowed her to teach a variety of group dog training classes, and volunteer for a number of different Border Collie rescue groups. For Rebecca it was an easy transition to move from teaching the subject of English to now the subject of Dogs. Teaching people how to communicate with their dog has always been her primary goal. Initially she began her dog training career in 2005 by becoming a trainer at Narnia Pet Behavior and Training, in Plainfield, Illinois. She now is their Director of Training in which she developed a training program to help others become dog trainers while helping current staff with developing new curriculum and provided continuing education opportunities. In 2009, she attended a rally obedience class at Wiggles-n-Wags Dog Training, Inc in Lombard and was asked to be on staff there too. She believes classes and workshops should focus on having fun and building a relationship between human and dog by apply many of the same learning principals that apply to people. She is a Trick Dog Instructor (CTDI) through the Do More with Your Dog program and a presenter for Dog Gone Safe which is a dog-bite prevention program that helps educate kids about dogs. Additionally she is an evaluator for APDT’s Canine Life and Social Skills (C.L.A.S.S program) which brings obedience to everyday life situations. |
